Special Education Improvement Planning Underway
Thank you to all the stakeholders- parents, teachers, administrators, counselors, community members, for all your hard work in setting the goals for an Improvement Plan for Special Education for next school year!  The November 13th and December 12th stakeholder meetings and smaller team meetings were very productive, and all of your input is much appreciated.  The main goals in a nutshell include:
  • Increasing graduation rate of students with IEPs to 83.2%.
  • Increasing participation in the general education curriculum to > 80% of the day for > 61% of students with IEPs .
  • Decrease dropout rate of students with IEPs to < 4.5%
  • Increase performance of students with IEPs on MAP in Communication Arts by 5% on individual scaled scores.
Excellent strategies were recommended, including expansion of co-teaching at all grade levels, expanding use of  Scholastic's System44 and READ 180, that has show great results in grades 5-12, and training personnel in the Check and Connect program, to name a few.
